Hello Spartan Families and Visitors,
Welcome to McConnellsburg Elementary School! We are excited to begin a new school year. The past two school years have been unprecedented and we are looking forward to a new school year. We are grateful to be able to welcome our students back into our school buildings for the 2021-2022 school year.
We welcome back over four hundred and fifty students as well as our wonderful teachers and support staff. We have experienced a few grade level staff changes for the new school year. First, we lost our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Beatty, to McConnellsburg Middle School where she will be serving as the Middle School Principal. We will miss her and we wish her the very best in her new role. Additionally, Mrs Jenna Pilkerton has moved to our four year old kindergarten program and Mrs Nicole Fletcher has moved to one of our fourth grade classrooms. We also had to say goodbye this summer to Mr Adam Miller (fifth grade), Mrs Gabrielle St. Clair (autistic support) and Mrs Mendy Mellott (fourth grade). Filling long term substitute positions in classrooms this year are Ms. Holly Stambaugh in fifth grade and Mrs. Carrie Stermer in autistic support. We welcome Mrs. Tracee Rudy back to fourth grade! And finally, Mrs Crystal Michael has moved to the Middle School and we have welcomed Miss Samantha Hensley and Miss Alexa Helser to our learning support classrooms as classroom aides.
We are so proud to be able to say that we continue to have 1:1 devices for all of our kindergarten through fifth grade students for online instructional experiences both in the classroom and from home, if necessary. Our online platforms serve to complement our traditional learning resources and written curriculum, which is aligned to the PA Core. Our classroom and liberal arts teachers will continue to focus this year on STEM related activities while continuing to place an emphasis on grade level and individual learning expectations for mathematics and english language arts. We expect to continue to expand experiences for our children in becoming proficient digital citizens, while maintaining our focus on our students becoming proficient readers, writers and thinkers in a continuously evolving world.
Our goal across the Central Fulton School District is to facilitate the growth of our students as collaborators, caring citizens, creators, contributors, communicators, and critical thinkers while remaining culturally aware and career minded. We continue our emphasis on cultivating responsible decision makers in our student learners. Our theme of the school year is to continue with our learning adventures while maintaining our continuing focus on kindness.
We continue to reward positive behavior with a school wide positive behavior program. We offer our students the opportunity to earn daily, weekly, marking period and year end behavior rewards. We hope to set an example as adventurous learners who are accepting, encouraging and kind school citizens!
We continue to monitor the local pandemic situation, following the approved district safety plan, but are able to once again welcome visitors and presenters, into our building with some moderation necessary. We have resumed field trips and we hope to soon return to a much more familiar and normal routine in the coming months.
I look forward to a productive and successful year with ALL of our children.
Let the Adventure Continue!
