Principal's Newsletter
Hello Spartan Families and Visitors,
Welcome to McConnellsburg Elementary School! We are very excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year. We look forward to another exciting and fun year of learning.
We welcome back a little over four hundred students, as well as our amazing teachers and support staff. We have experienced a few grade level staff changes for the new school year. First, Mrs Heidi McMath, formally a first grade teacher, will be moving to second grade this year. Additionally, Mrs Jenna Pilkerton will be moving to a first grade classroom.
We are also happy to welcome Ms. Alicia Deshong, Miss Liliana Metz and Ms Jessica Adams as new classroom support staff.
We are so proud to be able to say that we continue to utilize electronic devices for all of our kindergarten through fifth grade students for online instructional experiences. Our online platforms serve to complement our traditional learning resources and written curriculum, which is aligned to the PA Core Standards. Our teachers have spent hours this summer in teacher development with the intent of enhancing our core and supplemental reading programs.
Our classroom and liberal arts teachers will continue to focus this year on STEM related activities while continuing to place an emphasis on grade level and individual learning expectations for mathematics and english language arts. We expect to continue to expand experiences for our children in becoming proficient digital citizens, while maintaining our focus on our students becoming proficient readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and thinkers in a continuously evolving world.
Our goal across the Central Fulton School District is to facilitate the growth of our students as collaborators, caring citizens, creators, contributors, communicators, and critical thinkers while remaining culturally aware and career minded.
We will continue our emphasis on cultivating responsible decision makers in our student learners. Our theme of the current school year is to create an environment that allows both our school staff and our students to create their own legacy while teaching and learning. We hope to teach the core subjects but also provide a creative, positive, kind, and nurturing environment in our school community.
We continue to reward positive behavior with a school wide positive behavior program. This year we have made some innovative changes to this program and plan to provide more frequent rewards to our deserving students. We hope to set an example as energetic learners who are accepting, encouraging and kind school citizens!
We look forward to a productive and successful year with ALL of our Spartan family members.
